Synopsis: Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of four earnestly progressive theatre-makers scramble to devise a play that is historically accurate, avoids all stereotypes, and doesn’t offend anyone. Glorious chaos ensues in this script which skewers both its characters’ pretensions and the traditional “Thanksgiving Story.”

Please note: This play contains satirical depictions of violence and culturally insensitive topics.

Get to know the cast & crew:

Hannah Widehat (Logan) is a native artist of a variety of mediums. Her strongest art forms are acting and writing poetry. She has also been accused of being a comedian in her own right. She first began acting at the Brüka Theater’s annual Biggest Little Theatre Fringe Festival in 2015 when she was asked by a novice playwright if she could act in his original work called Rez Dogs Start Wailing. From that first performance, Hannah became a co-founding member of Rough Talk Sweethearts Productions and has since performed in 7 original indigenous plays, 2 monologues by fellow poet/playwrights, and her own poetry. She has never had any formal training in acting or poetry but continues to do so with sheer will and a smile on her face.

Nui Phonphila (Jaxton) is excited to make his theater acting debut in Larissa FastHorse’s The Thanksgiving Play. His recent credits include The Devil’s Children by Horror Nerd Productions, And For Dessert… Murder by Teensy Leader Productionsand Olympus Has Fallen by Millennium Films. He is currently working on other projects both locally and in California. Nui is signed to Tru Talent Agency and enrolled in classes as Take2 Performers Studio. Originally from Bossier City, LA, Nui loves cooking, martial arts, and archery. He developed his passion for acting at a young age by watching movies with his mother. The two would practice and perform different skits and monologues for each other. His ultimate goal is to star in a Marvel movie and become a household name.

Mike Muren (Caden) is excited to perform in his first show at Reno Little Theater. Mike is returning to the stage after a hiatus that brought him to Reno to work for Tesla. Previously, he was a regular performer at the Sugar Factory Playhouse in West Jordan, UT. Some of his favorite roles were Luther Billis in South Pacific, Potiphar in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Charlie Davenport in Annie Get Your Gun, Neal Tilden in 1940’s Radio Hour, and John Dale in Rented Christmas.

Leila Rosa (Alicia) is an actor originally from Fallbrook, California. She holds an MFA in acting from the University of Essex, East 15 Acting School in London, England. Leila has worked on both coasts and was most recently in the US premiere of On the Periphery in San Francisco. She is excited to be a part of The Thanksgiving Play and is having a blast as Alicia.

Sarah Hinz (Female Understudy/ASM) is new to Reno and is thrilled to have been welcomed into the theater community here by RLT! Sarah is a freelance theatre producer, manager, and fundraiser with experience across the country. She has worked as an Associate Producer with The 24 Hour Play Company, as a Box Office Manager with Chanhassan Dinner Theatres, sole-produced the first production of Pink House at The Tank, and currently works as Managing Director of What’s Next Productions. Being back in the rehearsal room has been an absolute joy. Huge thank you to Ben, for all of your support and encouragement!

Jonathan Gastelo (Understudy) For much of the pandemic, Jonathan has kept himself busy with virtual performances. He has performed for Reno Little Theater & MD Virtual Ensemble in several virtual productions including: F U Aristotle, The Sweetest Kill and, most recently, Amelia, Once More. Now with the theaters back open, he’s couldn’t be more excited to get back on a stage! He would like to thank his fellow cast members, stage managers: Michaela and Sarah, Director Dwight, and most importantly, you, the one reading this bio, for allowing him the opportunity to perform for you! He sincerely hopes you enjoy the show!

Michaela Biggs (Stage Manager) is thrilled to be stage managing for RLT. In 2015, Michaela began their career in technical theatre by creating and managing a theatre company called Center Stage Productions, while they were in high school. Since then, they have continued to pursue professional theatre at Broadway at Music Circus and at various theatres across the country, with dedicated studies in stage management and wardrobe. In addition to studying under industry professionals, Michaela has recently graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a degree in Theatre – Design and Technology. Most recently, they have begun to work with the I.A.T.S.E. Local 363, in Reno, Nevada. While engaging in professional and community theatre from coast to coast, Michaela has been inspired by experimental theatre and continues to seek out opportunities to create and contribute to art that is stimulating, enthralling, and thought-provoking.
