Porridgegate! Porridgegate! Porridgegate!
The first-ever Broadway Our Way virtual Play will air on Friday, June 5th at 7pm. Tickets go on sale Monday, May 25th. These kids have worked hard in this brand new medium and I am so proud of them! It can certainly be trying at times to rehearse theater with challenges like unstable internet, internets crashing and mics not working. Not to mention pets, siblings, and parents wandering through your virtual play setting. I am in awe of these young artists and their resilience and desire to bring a story to life. With the dedication these kids have brought to this project, I am sure that Porridgegate will not be the last of these virtual plays. Seeing student artists’ work in this new way has reminded me that theatre is more than a play for a room full of people. Theatre is imagining new possibilities together and then making them real. When young people create together, they can make the world a better place.
RLT’s education group will continue to offer more creative ways to keep your kiddos active and engaged in the wonderful world of theater. Please stay tuned for information about upcoming virtual education classes.
Now check out Wyatt, one of the cast members of Porridgegate, working on his character analysis!
