I promised to update on the status of the remainder of our 85th Season before the end of the month. Today I’m going to do just that.

We are working hard to figure out how and when we will be able to reopen RLT safely for our artists and audience members, but it looks that it will be several weeks before that is even a remote possibility. It absolutely pains me to officially announce that we are canceling the remainder of our 85th Season. While we had hoped to reopen this summer with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, it is now past the point of that being feasible.

So, what does that mean for our ticketholders?

  • Any unused tickets for The Imaginary Invalid, The Quality of Life, or The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee- as well as any tuitions for camps, classes, or workshops, will be automatically credited to your account. These credits will remain on your account until you redeem them for a future RLT event.
  • You can also choose to donate the value of your tickets as a tax-deductible contribution. As a small non-profit community theater, these cancellations are devastating. Every donation we receive will help us hang on a little longer, continue to create innovative virtual content, and protect this 85-year-old institution.
  • All ticket purchases are non-refundable, but we understand that these are difficult times for everyone- so please email BoxOffice@renolittletheater.org if you absolutely cannot utilize one of the options above and we will do our best to accommodate.

We are so proud of the work that did make it to our stage this season: the mainstage productions of Harvey, The Humans, and Murder on the Orient Express; the Education Program productions of Elf – The Musical, Jr, and Teens Speak Out: Glad You Are Here; and more than 40 performances with Ageless Repertory Theatre, Latino ARTE, Around the Stage Dance Company, RGJ Storytellers Series, and For the Love of Jazz; as well as multiple workshops, community rentals, and volunteer events. All that in just 8 months.

We’re also proud of the work we’re doing since our doors have closed: fun virtual Bingo events, a 24-hr Play Festival, interviews on Ghost Light TV’s In the Round, and Downstage Center with Sandy, the launch of Backstage View (premiering tonight with our 2017 production of Calendar Girls), a brand new sequel to Murder on the Orient Express called Orient Espresso which will air on Monday, 5/25, and a virtual Broadway Our Way production of Porridgegate (on 6/5; tickets on-sale next Monday)!

We thank you for your continued support as we are more committed than ever to inspiring and engaging our community through theatrical experiences… through a worldwide pandemic.

Stay well,
Melissa Taylor
Executive Director
