Mother’s Day was last week and it got me thinking a lot about my mom who passed away a little over two years ago. My mother was a Portugues immigrant. One thing you have to know about Portugues culture is that food is a celebration that brings people together. My mother and I bonded in the kitchen over cooking. My mother viewed cooking for her family as an act of love. Providing sustenance to her husband and children was one of the ways she communicated her love for us. She was also a total foodie. She loved a good party spread. This week I’ve decided to celebrate food with a delicious playlist that serves up musical numbers from some of my favorite broadway shows and movies!
.) “What Baking Can Do” from Waitress: The Musical
.) “Food! Glorious, food!” from Oliver!
.) “The Worst Pies in London” from Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
.) “Be Our Guest” From Beauty and the Beast
.) “Mr. Goldstone” from Gypsy
.) “Suppertime” from You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown!
.) “It Couldn’t Please Me More (the pineapple song)” from Cabaret
